Hello Fellow Arizona Health and Physical Education Members,

I hope this message finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy. Toni’s message for this year is adventure and we are all experiencing one now. It’s definitely not an adventure that any of us planned or wanted but we are all in this together. I wanted to reach out to you and let you know what an amazing professional community we have here in Arizona. At a time when things are so new, ever changing, and chaotic, our members and professional community are working together and supporting each other. We are surrounded by amazing people! We have an extremely important job every day but it has become even more important to be communicating with our students, families and communities about the importance of physical activity, ways to de-stress and making healthy choices. Our communities need us to help lead the way. Please remember to take care of yourselves as well; we can’t help others if we aren’t helping ourselves. A resource that I’d like to share with you that I use personally and in the gym is the Calm app. It is a paid app but they have created a free resource page that has meditations, sleep stories, music and more to help with emotional and mental wellness. It can be found here https://www.calm.com/blog/take-a-deep-breath
It helps to look at the positives during this time as well. I would like to take a quick moment to recognize 5 teachers that have earned a free membership by participating and raising over $500 in the Game On! Program this school year. Brianna Cramer and Brayden Crowe from Quentin Stem Academy; Odie Armstrong from Jasinski Elementary; and David Cervantez and Brianne Mcelrath from Emerson Elementary. Congratulations and welcome Odie.
I am so proud to be a member of this amazing community! Thank you all for your time, efforts and contributions. We have a very exciting, eventful and adventurous convention coming up in October this year. Make sure you write it on your calendars!

Thank you,
Lara Cox
