Keeping Students Safe in Physical Education During Critical Incidents

The K-12 school environment has always been looked at as a place full of educational opportunities and a safe haven for developing healthy and active students. Today, however, physical education administrators and teachers must be prepared to face the harsh reality of dealing with critical incidents, including an active shooter situation.  Our students must be kept safe from any potential emergency situation.  This is especially challenging during physical education, recess, before and after school activities and athletics when they are the most vulnerable in an open space such as the physical education field.

On a personal note, since I live 20 minutes south of Parkland, Florida, it made me take a deep dive and look for some type of guidance for physical education teachers. Read more…………………
